The end of the day brought a Musical Pub Crawl through a section of the city known as Temple Bar -- sort of like Austin's Sixth Street. As soon as I get home I'm going to find a blank wall and paint something cool like this on it to use as a photo location.
We reported to Gogarty's to begin our pub crawl, then traveled to two more pubs through the evening. "Crawl" turned out to be a misleading term; we thought it would mean walking next door or across the street to each successive pub, but I think we ended up covering at least three miles total. Truly! Here's the outside of Gogarty's:
And here we are on the second floor of the pub, just inside those big windows you see on the front. Our two musical hosts were accordionist Ray and guitarist/singer Des. The majority of the group of about 30 pub crawlers were Americans, and we all enjoyed not only the music but lots of interesting info on Irish history, language and culture.
