Little Miss Sadie made her debut two weeks ago, and I was privileged to capture her very first portraits. Isn't she absolutely breathtaking?

That morning found her family feeling some trepidation about the hours to come. What Sadie's birth go smoothly? How would their lives change? After a few minutes of worrying over why Mom was in the hospital bed, Sadie's big sister Ella left with her Nonnie for a shopping trip and a nap.

It didn't take long for the fun to begin for Mom and Dad. I never knew how difficult it is to stand by helplessly while a mother is in labor. How do you dads do it?

Finally, finally it was time for Sadie's arrival. Everyone took their positions, Mom began her Herculean task and OH MY!!! Sadie was here! Her Mimi and I were both in tears as we saw what a beautiful and perfect and strapping young lass she was.

She made a lot of faces but only a little bit of noise. The room was amazingly quiet considering the miracle that had just transpired.

Sadie bravely endured all of the indignities newborns are subjected to: washing, rubbing, weighing and footprinting, all while being blinded by light for the first time ever.

But she showed that she's a real woman when she was treated to her first hair washing. Ooohhhhhh, that felt nice!

Soon Ella and Nonnie returned to meet Sadie. Ella slooooowwwwwwly crept toward Sadie over the course of about 10 minutes.

In the meantime, Sadie met all sorts of family members and shook their hands.

Something tells me she liked these two best of all. She quietly looked up at them and took in as much as her brand new eyes could perceive.

Did your hearts grow two sizes bigger that day, Paige and Josh?

Finally Ella decided it was time to get an up-close look for herself. Sadie stretched out and seemed to be trying to listen to all of the hushed voices in the room.

This priceless moment changed Ella's life forever and introduced Sadie to the hero she will always look up to.

Now Ella could not get enough of Sadie. She loved her already, at first sight! She wanted to touch her nose, her fingers, even her tongue, and she shivered with pure delight!

And THEN! She got to HOLD Sadie!! HER Sadie! The joy bursting from Ella's face makes me cry every time I look at these shots.

No more worries about big sister feeling pushed aside. No more fears of not being able to love another child. Just a tidal wave of love sweeping this little family into a whole new chapter together. Thank You, Lord God. Thank you for this amazing experience and for working wonders through the tiniest of Your creations. You are so good!

Praise God, everybody!
Applaud God, all people!
His love has taken over our lives;
God's faithful ways are eternal.
Hallelujah!
